take your yoga
practice to a whole new place.
Begins in October 2012!
This program will take place over the course of six months.
Participants will commit to one weekend a month (Saturday and Sunday
full-day sessions) and six “workshops” (Saturday or Sunday
afternoons). While we cannot guarantee we can avoid all conflicts, we
will try our best to schedule the sessions when all participants are
available. Participants are required to take one yoga class per week in
addition to the scheduled sessions (it does not have to be at True
North Yoga, but outside classes are not included in the cost of the
program). There will also be home study requirements including reading,
written assignments, research and practicing the asanas.
The course will include:
Yoga History & Philosphy
- Basic history, philosophy and evolution of yoga
- Pranayama and the use of breath as a
transformative tool
- Art of meditation - developing deeper levels of
awareness
- Modern traditions and styles of yoga
- The Chakra system and it's use in the practice
of yoga
Asana
- Gain knowledge of basic and advanced asanas
(postures)
- Basic anatomy and physiology
- Alignment and how to avoid injuries
- Verbal and physical adjustments
Teaching or Developing a Personal Practice
- Sequencing to create a balanced practice
- Use of music
- Reading physical and energetic bodies to
customize a practice
The cost of the program is $1,400, which includes all the required
sessions and one yoga class per week at True North Yoga, as well as
books and other materials. A 25% deposit will be required to secure
your place in the program (once the minimum number of participants is
met and the start date determined) with the balance due monthly over
the six month course duration.
